Events on Inter-Faith Harmony and Celebration of Religious Festivals of Minorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2018

PROJECT BRIEF

PROJECT NATURE

The project is unique in its approach as it consists of three main components that include;

Component No. 1

Celebration of Minorities Religious Festivals & Events (i.e. Christmas, Easter Sunday, Guru Nanak Janam Din, Diwali & Holi). The celebration of Minority Religious Festivals & Days will let them re-assure that despite belonging to different faiths, we are one nation that continues to march for a united and prosperous Pakistan.

Component No. 2

Inter-Faith Harmony Conference 2019: it will be a 3-day conference and aims at spreading the culture of peace and tolerance between adherents of religions and cultures, and contributing to safeguarding the children of minorities against violence and extremism and defending the rights of these religious and cultural minorities according to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah with reference to his speech and the contribution of non-Muslim communities to Pakistan.

Component No. 3

Minority Youth Exposure Program (MYEP) 2019 is a 7-day Youth Exchange Program with a comprehensive portfolio of activities including; interacting side-by-side with policy/ lawmakers, diplomats, experts of various fields, educationalists, top business executives and community leaders. The participants in this Capacity Building Program have advanced to a new and rejuvenated spirit of interdependence through a broad array of experiences that enable them to pursue an applicable educational experience and professional development. The aim of the program was to build the capacity of minority youth, expand minds, broad perspectives, and gain awareness to have better understanding, deeper respect for other religions and to develop sense of interfaith harmony.

Component No. 4

Exhibition & Religious singing competition: under this Program, the Minority Youth will be given a platform, where they will participate in a singing competition and can polish their skills. It aims to preserve and promote their culture while spreading the culture of peace and tolerance between adherents of religions and cultures. Moreover, it will promote a positive image of Minority youth specifically and of Pakistan globally.

TARGETED AREA

The minority youth, particularly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa & Pakistan in general.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  • Highlighting the positive role of promoting minority rights by Directorate of Auqaf, Hajj, Religious & Minority affairs KP.
  • Promoting Tolerance & peaceful society by ensuring participation of youth & masses from minorities through meaningful participation & empowerment.
