Eid-e-Ridvan

Like around the world, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government also observed Eid e Ridwan on April 21st, 2019. On this occasion, more than 150 participants from bahai community attended the event. The event featured colorful activities that included tableaus and music performances. Blended with beats of soft music to add to the excitement of people who whole heartedly relished the festival. Speakers from Bahai community delivered speeches and recited poems conveying the importance and relevance of the emergence of Bahai community. Students enhanced the environment with melodious group songs and lively violin performances.

 

A congratulatory message was given on the occasion by the Secretary of Auqaf, Hajj, Religious & Minority Affairs Department Hassan Mehmood Khan. He stated that the government was committed to care and preserve equal rights of all the minority communities as enshrined in the constitution. He further said that the government intends to put the country on the progressive track under Quaid-e-Azam’s vision. He also said that Rs.483.890 million has been allocated for minorities in year 2018-19. And Rs.30 million has been allocated for this specific project by celebrating the religious events of minorities including Christmas, Holi, Diwali, 352nd Birthday of Guru Nanak, Eid-e-Ridvan and Easter. The project also offers programs like Minority Youth Exposure Program and Interfaith Harmony Conference to strengthen the skills and build capacity of minority youth.

 

Professor Dr. Ibrar wished Eid e Ridvan and in this regard he stated that the vision of Bahai community is peace, they work for peace building and uplifting of humans and that makes them like us, they are part of Pakistan.

Poet Habibul Hassan read poetry based on the message of peace in the country that left the audience in awe.

 

On this occasion, the chief guest Senator Brigadier William thanked the department of Auqaf for holding such events for minorities that give a message of interfaith harmony and diversity. He maintained that the minorities are safe and free in this region.

 

Speaking at the program, the additional Director General of Health Department extended felicitations to Department of Auqaf and said that the minorities enjoy full privileges in the country and they are treated respectfully.

 

Representative of Bahai Community Malalai Akhtari expressed contentment and showed satisfaction over the program by saying that for the first time, the KP Government has celebrated Bahai community’s Eid-e-Ridwan which is a success for all the minorities.
